Colours

Here are a list of basic colour names in Hakka, and rough corresponding shade of colour. Although we have named purple and violet as the same, you should also be wary of the fact that certain colour names incorporate a vast breadth of colour difference. For instance, the word for yellow ( vong2 )( set5 ) can incorporate colours from golden yellow to the palest of yellows to brown. Moreover, the word for turquoise ( ciang1 )( set5 ) contains shade from vibrant greens to bluey greens and so on.
